Maker Mavens Workshops
Fall Workshops for Elementary School (3rd-7th grade)
One Saturday of every month from 10 AM – 11:30 AM
In-person at the Girls Inc. Fort Worth & Arlington Offices
Maker Mavens (MM) are fun and educational Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) workshops that takes place once a month on a Saturday morning to introduce girls to STEM. The girls will explore her inner scientist through interactive hands-on STEM activities with other girls of her age.
CANDY SCIENCE (2ND-5TH GRADE) @ ARLINGTON OFFICE
Participants will understand the chemistry and chemical reaction of making candy and the importance of caramelization and crystallization.
MINI PROPELLER CAR (2ND-7TH GRADE) @ FORT WORTH OFFICE
Participants will explore the concepts of circuits and forces by creating a mini propeller car.
WOMEN IN ENGINEERING (2ND – 7TH GRADE) @ TCU
Participants will learn from TCU female mentors, explore activities and careers in engineering.
SNOW GLOBE (2ND-5TH GRADE) @ ARLIGNTON OFFICE
Participants will explore the idea of viscosity; how thick a liquid is and how easy it pours. By putting their creativity to use making a Christmas item like a snow globe, participants will explore and analyze this idea.
