College Shower

Wedding showers and baby showers are held to prepare the honoree for a major life transition. At Girls Inc. of Tarrant County, we want to level the playing field for our girls and help them to arrive on campus ready to learn.

Each member of the Girls Inc. graduating class selected to participate in College Shower has demonstrated their commitment by participating in school-based comprehensive programs, summer camps, college and career workshops, Eureka!, Saturday programs, and attended 100% of our college-related activities.

A kickoff event is held in early June, where the Senior Spotlight catalog featuring the College Shower participants is unveiled. Sponsors select a girl to sponsor, purchase items on the girl’s wish list and bring us the items prior to the event so we can prepare the event venue. We celebrate with the girls, their guest(s), girl sponsors, event sponsors, school partners and Girls Inc. of Tarrant County staff.
