Dallas Mavericks Foundation Inspires a New Generation of GITC Storytellers

A day of inspiration, generosity, and empowerment unfolded on June 4, 2025, as the Dallas Mavericks Foundation unveiled a brand-new, state-of-the-art podcast studio in our Makerspace, thanks to Chime. The donation included high-quality podcast microphones, studio lighting, cameras, and production equipment – all designed to elevate how GITC girls share their stories, dreams, and experiences with the world.

Representatives from the Mavericks Foundation attended the reveal, offering not only support but powerful encouragement. Katie Edwards, President of the Mavs Foundation, was joined by Darlise Harrison, Mavs Foundation Board Member, and Dana Larson, from MavsTV. Heartfelt remarks were shared with the girls, urging them to speak boldly, live courageously, and recognize that their stories matter in broadcasting, in sports, and in everyday life. The room was filled with excitement and laughter as girls received Mavs t-shirts, laughed, danced, and then got to explore the podcast studio.

The Mavericks Foundation also unveiled a stunning new mural in the GITC Makerspace! This colorful tribute was dedicated to the dreams and brilliance of the girls it serves. The mural, like the podcast studio, now stands as a daily reminder that the community believes in them and their stories.

The podcast studio will be used to support storytelling, career exploration, and digital media training – helping girls not only build confidence but practical skills in communication, production, and leadership. Through this generous partnership with the Dallas Mavericks Foundation and Chime, Girls Inc. of Tarrant County is one step closer to ensuring every girl becomes strong, smart, and bold… and now, heard.
