Eureka! Signing Day & Red Coat Ceremony: Celebrating Commitment to STEM

In a heartwarming celebration of potential, promise, and purpose, Girls Inc. of Tarrant County welcomed a new class into the Eureka! program during its annual Eureka! Signing Day. The event marked a pivotal milestone, as these young girls officially committed to a multiple-year journey of growth and discovery in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
Much like athletic signing days that recognize future student-athletes, Eureka! Signing Day shines a spotlight on bright, ambitious girls ready to make their mark in traditionally male-dominated fields. Families, mentors, and community members gathered to cheer them on as they signed their commitment letters – not just to a program, but to themselves and their futures.

The event also featured a moving Red Coat Ceremony, honoring outstanding current participants who have consistently demonstrated dedication through active participation in field trips, workshops, and events. The red coats, presented to these standout girls, symbolize their deep commitment to the Eureka! program’s mission.

Offered at no cost, Eureka! is a unique and empowering initiative that provides girls with immersive STEM learning, leadership training, and invaluable mentorship opportunities. Participants are equipped with the tools and confidence they need to boldly pursue college and career dreams in industries where women, especially women of color, are often underrepresented.
Throughout their Eureka! journey, girls will:
  • Engage in monthly hands-on STEM workshops, leadership training, and personal development.
  • Participate in summer camps hosted by Girls Inc., growing from 8th through 12th grade.
  • Attend field trips and panel discussions with professionals across diverse STEM careers.
  • Build real-world skills that prepare them for college, internships, and job opportunities.
  • Gain access to college readiness resources, career exposure, and potential scholarships.

“It’s not just about science or math,” said one GITC staff member. “It’s about building a girl’s self-worth, expanding her vision for what’s possible, and giving her the network to get there.”
As one group of girls was honored for embodying the spirit of Eureka!, another was just beginning their journey – full of curiosity, ambition, and the drive to explore STEM fields through hands-on experiences, mentorship, and personal development.
