Volunteers Impacting GITC

Girls Inc. of Tarrant County is fortunate to have a network of volunteers ready to help us accomplish our mission of inspiring girls to be strong, smart, and bold. Presently, our volunteer hub boasts over 300 volunteers who contribute in meaningful ways ranging from classroom presentations and career exploration panels, to setting up events, and even providing a helping hand when we’ve needed maintenance at our facility. In celebration of April being National Volunteer Month, and our recent volunteer recognition event, we wanted to shine a light on some of the special people who have made a difference in our organization.

  • Kathy Novak Johnson – Kathy has been supporter and volunteer at GITC for over 10 years! Her dedication to our mission is evident through her participation in numerous committees over the years, including our College Shower Planning Committee, and her role the past two years as chair of the Champion for Girls Giving Society. Kathy brings joy and enthusiasm to every event she is a part of, and we are grateful for her meaningful involvement with the organization.
  • Dalvin Luyanda Colon – Dalvin has been an incredible hands-on volunteer, helping our facilities manager when needed–including putting together the bookshelves for our library space—and has assisted in the set-up of numerous weekend events, such as Second Saturdays and the EmpowerHer Marketplace! Recently, Dalvin participated in a speed networking event to help girls prepare for making professional connections in their future, and even shared details of his experience as an IT professional. Dalvin is a wonderful resource and has made a significant impact in our programs through his dedication to GITC’s mission.
  • Monique Oliveaux – Monique is a member of our Champions for Girls giving society and is a part of our planning committees for our major events. She has been incredibly generous with her time, and GITC can always count on her being a constant presence at College Shower and Champions Breakfast where she provides behind the scenes help by setting up beautiful décor that provides an elevated experience for our guests and participants. Her creativity and vision are admired and appreciated by all.
  • Jori Wingham – Jori is a Respiratory Care Practitioner who has graciously given her time to get over 40 girls (and even GITC staff) CPR certified! She recently surprised participants during Spring Break Camp with an amazing lunch and has helped with various events throughout the year. GITC is grateful for Jori’s selflessness and willingness to volunteer in different capacities within the organization.
